Summer Garden Charm Bracelet

This gorgeous bracelet draws heavily upon TierraCast®'s new "Summer Garden 2006 Collection" for its fairy, butterfly and floral motifs. It is pictured with cat's eye in shades of white, pink, and dark pink, plus Swarovski® crystal in crystal ab, light rose, and rose.

You'll need basic stringing skills, and a little wire wrapping to create the center piece of the necklace. You can review those techniques, here:

Although it is pictured in silver, it can just as easily be made in with gold tone components. This design uses the following parts:

Step One: Making the Charm Rings

Rather than use a charm chain, I like to make a few headpin charms, attach them all to a small loop, and then incorporate the loop into my bracelets. You can see close up and in detail on this page exactly how to do this. If you need a refresher on wire wrapping, you can click here.

The charm ring shown above has four headpin charms:

  • (1) 8mm Crystal Butterfly Bead (pictured in CRYSTAL AB)
  • (1) Small Pewter Butterfly Bead
  • (1) 4mm Crystal Bicone Bead (pictured in ROSE) plus on 12mm 3-D Flower Bead (pictured in PINK)
  • (1) Fairy Wing Assembly:
    • (1) Briolette Bead (ROSE)
    • (1) 4mm Scalloped Bead Cap
    • (1) Fairy Wing Bead
    • (1) 4mm Round Cat's Eye Bead (PINK)
    • (1) 4mm Scalloped Bead Cap

Wire wrap all four headpin charms to the closed ring, as demonstrated here. Make FOUR of these charm rings.

The charm ring shown above has three headpin charms. One of the headpin charms (pictured here as the white 7mm cat's eye flower bead) is used to attach the charm, as demonstrated here. Make THREE of these charm rings.

  • (1) 7mm Etched Flower (pictured in WHITE)
  • (1) Fairy Charm (attached with flower headpin charm)
  • (1) 8mm Crystal Butterfly Bead (pictured in LIGHT ROSE)
  • (1) 4mm Crystal Bicone (pictured in LIGHT ROSE) plus a 12mm 3-D Flower Bead (pictured in DARK PINK)

Step Two - Putting it all together:

Making the charm rings is the hard part - now comes the easy part - putting everything together. You'll need:

  • (14) 4mm Bicone Beads (pictured in CRYSTAL AB)
  • (14) 2mm Sterling Rounds
  • (6) 15mm Flower Beads (pictured in PINK)
  • (2) 2mm Sterling Crimp Beads
  • (1) Butterfly Toggle Set

The bracelet is strung like this:

  • 2mm Round
  • 4mm Bicone
  • Fairy-Wing Charm Ring (or Fairy-Charm Charm Ring)
  • 4mm Bicone
  • 2mm Round
  • 15mm Flower

  • repeat pattern 6 more times, leaving out the final 15mm flower

  • finish ends with crimp beads and butterfly toggle set.

This bracelet will measure 7" exactly when finished. You can make it a little larger by replacing the 2mm rounds with 3mm rounds. ENJOY! -- Erin
