SwarovskiŽ Crystal & Cat's Eye Correspondences by Erin Weik - www.123bead.com
Sparkling SwarovskiŽ crystal and satiny cat's eye (fiber optic) glass beads go together like hotcakes and molasses! To facilitate the mixing and matching of these wonderful beads, I've put together the following chart of correspondences. The cat's eye names and numbers are specific to my shop (located online at http://www.123bead.com). Other bead shops may have different names and numbers for the same or similar colors.
For each cat's eye color, I have listed the closest SwarovskiŽ color match (for hue and saturation), similar matches with in the same hue, and the occasional comment, suggestion or warning. For example, the color cat's eye color Light Green (#25) most closely matches the Swarovski color Chrysolite. Swarovski colors Peridot and Green Turmaline also match (they're the same hue but darker), and Emerald and Erinite (also the same hue) clash.
Occasionally, a cat's eye color will matches have no "best match" (same hue and shade), but don't hesitate to pull from the other hue matches for your work. In fact - mixing a darker color and a lighter color usually has a much more dramatic effect - for example mixing dark purple cat's eye and light amethyst crystal is smashing, even though amethyst is listed as the "best match."
One other note - both cat's eye colors and SwarovskiŽ colors vary from dye-lot to dye-lot. What matches in this batch of beads could clash with the next batch. The author, therefore, makes no guarantee as to the accuracy of this information.
